Mike Devine comes from the streets of Liberty City, one of the roughest areas in Miami, and as a young boy, the emerging inner-city rap groups caught his attention as a street DeeJay and Mike began to get caught up in a lifestyle that was very difficult than where he is today.

Early onin his career (1984,1985), Mike felt a call to write and rap about important things, his faith in God, world hunger, and anti-drug messages. At the same time, another Liberty City young man, Luther Campbell, was spearheading the emergence of a Miami-based rap group, the Ghetto Style Deejays. They garnered national attention by booking and promoting rap concerts with national rap group and teen disco center, and underground radio station. There was plenty of opportunity for young rappers such as Mike to get involved and help promote the music of the Ghetto Style Deejays and other then fledgling groups such as MC-Shy-D, J.D.C., and 2-live crew. For almost a year in 1987, Mike was caught up in the loose and fast raunch rap life including drugs, sex, and the use of explicit sex lyrics.

By October of that year, Mike was already having seconds thoughts about the direction of his life. He entered and won 3rd place in a rap contest with a gospel rap call Let's Praise. This lead to a recording deal and a string of appearances at colleges, rap fests, and churches.

"My involvement in the Miami rap scene showed me what can happended when you get ahead of God." said Mike. "Now, I show churches how to evangelize effectively to youth who are rap and rock music lovers."
